Hi all - I have a set of sliding patio doors between my dining room and what was, until a week ago, a screen porch. We have converted it to a three-season room. However, the metal frames of the sliding doors are a mess and I don't know how to clean them. The metal (which was exposed to the elements for many years) has stuff crusted on it (see pic), and when I tried to sand it off, it still looked bad even though it was smooth. Is there a way to restore the finish of the metal? The tracks are also a mess - bonus points for any suggestions for the best way to clean those.
Hopefully these can be saved, because we can't afford new ones right now!
There powder coated aluminm doors. The finish is shot and rustolium paint contains fish oil and will never stay stuck to the finish. Aluminum is never painted with an oil based paint. You really need to buy new doors.
