I have a sheet vinyl floor in my kitchen and bathroom that is a light color and is very hard to clean. It is a high traffic area and gets quite dirty.
I have seen different steamers designed for hard flooring. They range from "As seen on TV" stuff to name brands in the stores. Has anyone had any experience with these? Are they worth having or is it another one of those items that sounds real good, but doesn't work as expected? The ones I've seen in local stores seem to average around $ 75.
I'm trying to find something that will loosen ground in dirt so that it can be mopped up on a regular basis.
I haven't used one of the steamers, but I have found a line of cleaners and finish restorers that work well.
They are by a company named Holloway House. I have used their hardwood floor products and have been very pleased wit them.
They make a vinyl flooring cleaner and wax remover. It's in a white bottle with a red label. I am attaching a link for them. You can scroll down and look at the product to find out more info.
I would imagine if you stripped it well and then used a polish or sealer, it would go a long way to making it easier to clean it and keep it clean.
I read other boards and there was one thread about this very subject.
It seems a lot of people really like one called H2O Steam Mop. I have not tried this particular one, but there are lots of good reports for it.
Last week I borrowed my friends Bissell 2X Steam Cleaner. I cleaned my carpet, (using only white vinegar, no special solutions), and it did a wonderful job! I then used it on my vinyl in the kitchen and it did a pretty good job in there, too. Would have probably done better, but I didn't have the 'bare floor' attachment and just used it as for a carpeted floor. Nonetheless, I was very pleased with that.
