I suspect you're referring to small moths about 3/8" long or less which are found primarily in the kitchen, although one there's an infestation, they can be found anywhere in the house. If so, they're probably Indian meal moths.

I used to think that they came in as larvae in food, and that's probably the case. But I've also found them in cocoons on plastic grocery bags. Once they're in a grocery store, they can lay eggs anywhere.
First, check your food supply, especially flour, sugar, chocolate (they love it!), rice, and grains. Check canned goods as well; I've often found larvae tucked into cocoons on the rims of cans.
If the food is infested, discard it. Larvae in cocoons on can lids can be removed with a paper towel, kleenex or Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, which anesthetizes and kills quickly.
After you've cleaned your pantry, wipe down the shelves and storage area. Sometimes I use rubbing alcohol; bleach can be used with plenty of ventilation and eye protection, but I find rubbing alcohol easier to tolerate.
Refrigerate grains and rice. There may still be larvae which haven't hatched, so there could be more for a few days or week after the cleaning. Sometimes it takes a few thorough top to bottom cleaning. Don't forget kitchen cupboards.
Keep checking your pantry and food storage areas regularly.
Good luck; they're really quite a nuisance. I've had several infestations, with outbreaks occuring several months apart.
