To clean soot from fireplaces use Easy Off Oven Cleaner. Spray on Bricks, etc. wait 15 to 1/2 hr. and rinse off with clear water. Repeat if necessary. No need for toxic acids.

To get black scuff marks off of vinyl flooring, try a damp Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and very lightly wipe it away. Use little elbow grease...works like a charm!
