My dog got sick in the house yesterday and I have been trying to clean the mess up. It is yellow bile fluid. He is currently being treated for cancer and had been sick the last couple of days. I have tried spot shot, bissell carpet cleaner (not the steam cleaner stuff) but the spray kind that is a pre-treatment. My carpet is not new, but I do try to keep the stains cleaned up. This was the first time we didn't make it outside in time. He is very well house trained and he just couldn't help himself. Poor baby. He is much better today after a day of IV fluids at the vets office - he got dehydrated.

Anyway, suggestions are appreciated.

Natures Miracle (pet supply stores) is an excellent enzyme treating cleaner for vomit and urine/feces stains and odors. When you treat the carpet you need to saturate the area with NM, and allow it to set and work all the way down through the pile and into the pad, often over night. Check label directions. Then clean again with a hot water extraction cleaner using lots of rinses. Hottest water possible is what does the best and fastest jobs on any stains.

Our dog yaks, (nervous weiner dog) we use Oxy Clean. It works well, but it's important to mix it with warm water.

I know we have mention HOST on other threads. Also you can check the Martha Stewart blog on this product. After using the Nature's Miracle, apply the HOST product. When it is dry just vacuum it up. Next time, when you see a spill or vomit, go ahead and use your pre-treat and before you wipe it up just make an ant pile size of HOST on it. In the morning just kick it over and vacuum. This worked for me when our 16 year old puppy was having his last year and got ill often.
