Jay Baker gave advice concerning trying to get rid of etching on marble before going with a marble polishing paste. He said: "Try cleaning it with a damp soft cloth dipped in baking soda. Bicarbonate of soda is abrasive enough to remove stains without scratching the surface. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. If the luster doesn't come back, you can try a marble-polishing paste or spray on liquid from a home improvement center." I would NOT recommend this! I tried it and it left a spot on my new marble countertop!!!

If you have a new marble countertop, why would you want to use something like this? He said that it is used to remove etching before you use a marble polish to try and restore the shine to a worn or etched marble surface.
If you have a new countertop, you shouldn't have those issues. Marblelife has a wonderful line of cleaners and polishes for marble. You have to be extremely careful what you use on marble. It is such a soft surface, it will etch and scratch easily. Acidic fruits and vegetable should be placed on a marble countertop as they can damage the surface. Acid based cleaners should not be used either. Anyone that owns marble surfaces should do quite a bit of research and be well informed.
Gel Gloss in the pink, pint can is also a recommended cleaner/polish/protector for real and synthetic marble surfaces, (along with many other surfaces) Also, often synthetic or manufactured marble is mistaken for actual stone marble? (It is basicly a plastic/resin product.) This is why Gel Gloss is good, as it works fine on either type.
