I just got an upholstered Lazyboy which was used but in good condition. What can I clean this with. I would like to give it a good clean to get the other people's germs off it and their dust inside. I just don't want to spray it with a upholstery cleaner.
I will vacuum it to get the extra topical stuff off.
I know Febreze is good, but I really want to deep clean it.
I have used a spray bottle with either laundry detergent or baby shampoo and water along with a shop vac.
I dilute 2 oz. of either soap in 16 oz. of water in a spray bottle. I spray a small area, rub in with a small brush (something without terribly hard bristles) and then vacuum up with a shop vac. I then spray with clear water and shop vac again. You might need to repeat the spray of water and vacuum two or three times to remove all of the soap.
The repeated sprays of water will remove all of the soapy water, which if you don't remove all of it, the soap residue will attract dirt. The shop vac will remove almost all of the water. When spraying with either the soapy water or the clear water, you don't need to heavily saturate the upholstery, just spray to wet good.
I was going to rent a carpet cleaning machine and was hoping to find one with an upholstery attachment. If not I'll use the method Shu'sALegend described.
