I can't seem to shine my kitchen wood chairs. I used guardsman cleaner. Yes, the cloth is dirty, so it is cleaning, but it is making the oak soft and the stain is rubbing out. The chairs feel sticky. I then tried pledge thinking it needed wax.
Any suggestions to make them shine?
Thank you

I doubt the oak is getting soft inless it's red oak, but if it's taking off the sealing finish then the cleaner you used is to strong.
Murphys oil soap would have cleaned it without hurting it. Once the finish is wiped off it's going to have to be resealed with poly or at least a real furniture wax in paste form.
