I have Bali cellular shades and have noticed some mold/mildew on the side which faces the window. We have good vinyl windows but we close this particular blind at night and the condensation must be making the blind have mildew spots on it. What can I do to stop and get rid of existiing mildew?

The best thing to do to find out how to clean the blinds is to call Bali and ask them what types of cleaning products are best to use. Bleach is about the only thing that will remove mildew.

As far as stopping the condensation, you need to work on insulating and sealing the window. You need to caulk and weatherstrip well to help prevent the condensation.

I had some mildew/mold form on a cellular shade in the basement bathroom. I sprayed it really well with an aerosol Lysol air cleaner. And was later able to just dust the mildew off outdoors. If you can keep the blind from being right up against the glass, so there is a bit more air circulation that may help some.

Also any time you are getting condensation on windows, you probably have too much moisture in your indoor air. Be sure to use bath and kitchen vent fans, during and after showering, or cooking on stove tops. Turn off any furnace humidifiers, until (or if ever) the
air dryness increases to where you actually need more air moisture.
