Anyone know of a way this smell can be eradicated?

The first thing I would try...put it in the sunshine (all opened up) for a couple of days. If that doesn't work, place some charcoal inside & close it up for a few days.

Ozium. It is an odor remover. I used it to remove old stale built up over many years cigarette smoke smell in my Mom's china cabinet when I brought it to my house.

You can purchase it at Wal-Mart in the automotive section where the little hang-up air fresheners are. It is in a spray bottle. It is absolutely amazing.

Try it if the sunshine or charcoal don't work, which either one of those work well, too.
