This week-end I watched Desperate Landscapes: Episode Desperate Turnaround. In this episode the host used some type of channel molding with a cap to a install porch screen, does anyone know what was used? Seemed to make the idea of replacing my screen on the back porch much easier. Appeared as if he pressed the screen into a channel tapped a cover over it cut the excess screen and he was done. Thanks for any help
This may not be the same brand but it's the same style stuff:
That link is for the cap piece, there are base pieces and caps in 3.5" and 1.5" sizes. At Lowe's in the hardware area near the screen wire.
My husband and I thought Screen Tight was the same stuff as well. Went to Home Depot and checked into it, but on the show there was no spline involved, it looked as if they were just using their fingers to tuck it into a channel and then pulling it taunt before capping. Maybe they didn't show all of the steps on the show.
Since you have to be able to pull the screen tight and hold it in place I would bet that this detail was just missed on the TV show.
